GRP fibreglass roofing is a strong, seamless flat roofing system that provides long-term weather protection with minimal maintenance. With no joints, seams, or overlaps, it creates a fully waterproof surface that is ideal for garages, extensions, dormers, porches, and commercial properties across the UK.
At EBT Build, we install GRP fibreglass roofs using high-quality materials and proven installation methods, including deck preparation, resin application, edge detailing, and protective topcoats. All work is completed by our in-house team with a free site survey, fixed written quotation, and workmanship guarantee. GRP fibreglass roofing is often installed as part of wider roofing services to improve durability and protect flat roof structures for years to come.

Consistently rated for workmanship, reliability, and project management.
Delivering home refurbishment and roofing projects with controlled processes, certified trades, and accountable project management.
Every GRP fibreglass roofing project is delivered as a fully managed service. We focus on preparation, correct layering, and controlled curing to ensure the roof performs as intended.
Our work prioritises structural strength, waterproofing, and surface durability. All installation stages follow guidance from the British Standards Institution to ensure safety and long term reliability.|
If the existing roof structure has deteriorated significantly, a full flat roof replacement may be recommended before installing a new fibreglass system.
Our service covers everything required to deliver a fully finished fibreglass roof. We assess the existing surface, prepare the structure, and install the GRP system using approved methods and materials.
Where required, we also advise on drainage improvements and edge protection to reduce the risk of standing water and future damage. Another widely used flat roof solution is torch on felt roofing, which provides a layered waterproof membrane suitable for many flat roof structures.
Garage roofs are one of the most common applications for GRP fibreglass roofing in the UK. The seamless, joint free surface is ideal for the flat or shallow pitch profiles common on single and double garages, providing long term waterproofing without the maintenance issues associated with felt systems.
Single storey rear and side extensions with flat roofs are well suited to GRP fibreglass installation. We install fibreglass systems on new build extensions and as replacements for existing felt or EPDM coverings that have reached the end of their lifespan.
Dormer flat roofs are exposed to direct rainfall and require a durable, fully sealed surface. GRP fibreglass is a popular choice for dormer installations as part of loft conversion projects, providing a low maintenance weatherproof finish that lasts for decades.
GRP fibreglass is well suited to porch roofs and canopy structures where a neat, seamless finish is required on a small flat roof area. The material cures to a hard, smooth surface that resists moss growth and requires minimal ongoing attention.
GRP fibreglass roofing is one of the few flat roofing systems strong enough to be used as a walkable surface. We install reinforced GRP systems on balconies, roof terraces, and walkways where both waterproofing and load bearing performance are required.
We carry out GRP fibreglass installations on commercial properties including offices, retail units, and light industrial buildings. The seamless surface and long lifespan make GRP a practical and cost effective solution for commercial flat roofs of all sizes.
GRP fibreglass roofing is only as good as the preparation and application behind it. The resin must be applied at the correct temperature, in the correct sequence, and allowed to cure properly before the next layer goes down. Rushed work, incorrect mix ratios, or poor edge detailing will cause delamination, cracking, and water ingress within a few years of installation. At EBT Build we follow the correct process on every job, regardless of the size of the roof.
We have been installing GRP fibreglass roofing on garages, extensions, dormers, and commercial flat roofs across the UK for over 10 years. Every installation is completed by our own team, priced transparently, and backed by a workmanship guarantee.
For homeowners comparing flat roofing materials, EPDM roofing is another flexible membrane system often used for garages and residential extensions.

GRP stands for glass reinforced plastic, commonly known as fibreglass. It is a flat roofing system made by applying layers of fibreglass matting saturated with polyester resin directly onto the roof deck. Once the resin cures it forms a hard, seamless, fully waterproof surface that is bonded to the deck beneath. A topcoat is then applied to protect the surface from UV degradation and weathering. Because there are no joints, seams, or overlaps, GRP roofing eliminates the most common points of failure found in felt and other layered roofing systems. The result is a rigid, durable surface that performs consistently across the full roof area without the maintenance issues associated with membrane systems.
A properly installed GRP fibreglass roof typically lasts between 25 and 40 years depending on the quality of materials used, the standard of preparation and application, and whether the surface is maintained periodically. The most important factor affecting lifespan is installation quality — specifically the preparation of the roof deck, the resin mix ratio, and the curing conditions during installation. GRP roofing installed at incorrect temperatures or without adequate preparation will fail significantly earlier than the system is capable of delivering. EBT Build installs all GRP systems to manufacturer specification to ensure the full lifespan is achievable from every installation.
GRP, EPDM, and felt are all viable flat roofing systems but they perform differently and suit different situations. GRP fibreglass cures to a hard, rigid surface with no joints or seams, making it one of the most waterproof and low maintenance options available. It is also the only common flat roofing system strong enough to be used as a walkable surface without additional decking. EPDM is a flexible rubber membrane that is easier to install on roofs with complex shapes or penetrations and is well suited to larger commercial roofs. Torch on felt is a cost effective and widely used system but has a shorter lifespan than GRP or EPDM and requires more frequent maintenance. EBT Build assesses the roof structure, size, and usage during the survey and recommends the most suitable system for the specific project.
The cost of GRP fibreglass roofing in the UK typically ranges from £70 to £120 per square metre depending on the size of the roof, the condition of the existing deck, the specification of materials, and access requirements. A standard garage roof of around 15 to 20 square metres typically costs between £1,200 and £2,500 fully installed. Larger flat roof extensions will cost more depending on scope and whether insulation or deck repairs are required as part of the installation. EBT Build provides fully itemised written quotes after a free site survey so you know exactly what you are paying for before any work begins.
In some cases GRP fibreglass can be installed over an existing roof surface, but only if the existing deck is structurally sound, completely dry, and free from significant damage, rot, or movement. Installing over a compromised deck traps moisture beneath the new system and causes premature failure regardless of the quality of the GRP installation itself. If the existing covering is felt or a deteriorated membrane, it is usually removed before the new GRP system goes down to allow the deck condition to be properly assessed. We carries out a full deck inspection during the survey and confirms whether overlay installation is appropriate or whether deck preparation and replacement work is required first.
GRP fibreglass roofing requires very little maintenance compared to felt or EPDM systems. The surface should be inspected visually once or twice a year to check for any surface damage, debris accumulation, or blocked drainage outlets. If the topcoat shows signs of weathering or chalking after 10 to 15 years, a fresh topcoat can be applied without disturbing the underlying GRP layers, effectively extending the life of the roof at a fraction of the cost of full replacement. Any impact damage or cracking should be repaired promptly to prevent water reaching the deck beneath. We advises on maintenance requirements during handover and can carry out periodic inspections and topcoat renewals as part of an ongoing maintenance arrangement.
